Organisation
What a customer organisation is in dCommerce - the wholesale account that owns pricing, catalogue rules, contacts, and orders.
An organisation is the primary commercial record for a business you sell to - the customer account on your books. Contract pricing, catalogue eligibility, ship-to addresses, contacts, and orders are anchored here.
You administer organisations in the admin console. People on the organisation may use the customer portal only after they become users (see Contact and User).
In summary
Think of the organisation as the account - not a single login. Several contacts may be associated with the same organisation, and some of those contacts may later sign in as users, but commercial rules belong to the account.
Organisations typically carry status (for example active or on hold) and related records such as contacts and addresses.
How it connects
- Contacts belong to an organisation and are the people you associate with orders
- Some contacts may become users with sign-in access; access is not required to appear on an order
- Contract pricing and product restrictions are evaluated in the context of the organisation
- Orders are placed for an organisation
